Project brief
Students in groups of four or five are required to choose a study on the Universal
Design concept method and summarise the conclusions and philosophical
underpinnings into infographics sketches (mixed media, manual and digital). The
goal of this project is to test your ability to understand, analyse, and react to the
idea of universal design in interior design. You must identify form and space
features by functionality, aesthetics, and environmental considerations and
incorporate them into your results while taking into account the universal design
principles as listed below:
+ Definition of Universal Design – Group 1
+ Flexibility – Group 1
+ Equitable use – Group 2
+ Simple and intuitive – Group 2
+ Perceptible information - Group 3
+ Tolerance for error – Group 3
+ Low physical effort – Group 4
+ Size and space for approach and use – Group 4
My group is in Group 3, so we are doing Perceptible Information and Tolerance for error.
Presentation Board
Perceptible Information
The design communicates necessary information effectively to the user, regardless of ambient conditions or the user’s sensory abilities. For example, a video includes a voiceover for individuals with visual impairments.

Tolerance for Error
The design minimizes hazards and the adverse consequences of accidental or unintended actions. For example, a hallway is free of protruding objects at a height where they would not be detectable by someone with a visual impairment who uses a cane.
